John Gulager

John Gulager is a renowned film actor, director, and cinematographer. He was born on December 19, 1957, as John Thompson Gulager in New York City. He is the son of Clu Gulager (actor and director) and the late film and TV actress, Miriam Byrd-Nethery. His brother, Tom Gulager, is also an actor and director. In 1969, John started his career as an actor through his father’s directorial film entitled A Day with the Boys. This is the only short film that Clu Gulanger has directed, but he is still considered as one of the most interesting filmmakers till date.

In 1999, he played as a rustler in Christopher Coppola’s Gunfighter. In the year 2002, John was starred in Tom Bliss’ The Poet Writes His Wife; a story about the love-forsaken poem that the poet, Dylan Thomas writes to his wife. He also handles the cinematography of the film. He acted and was debuted as a director in the 2005 action horror film, Feast. The film was premiered at the Chicago International Film Festival, Fantastic Fest in Austin Texas, International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival and Savannah Film Festival in October 2005.

John also earned the Horror Jury Award for Best Director at the Austin Fantastic Fest in 2005. He appeared in Frank Cappello’s 2007 drama film, He was a Quiet Man and Joel Soisson’s horror film, Pulse 2: Afterlife in 2008. In 2008, he directed Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds, a sequel to Feast in 2005 and 2009, he also helmed the third instalment of the film entitled Feast 3: The Happy Finish. In 2012, he directed the 3D horror film, Piranha 3DD, which is a sequel to Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3D in 2010.

Even though the film made a small impact on its debut weekend and did not gross well at the box office, it did well internationally and grossed $8,493,728 overseas. In 2013, John helmed another horror film entitled Zombie Night, and he is also working in the upcoming Children of the Corn: Runaway, which is the 10th film in the longest running supernatural horror film, Children of the Corn. It is set to release in 2017. John also made a television appearance in the documentary TV series, Project Greenlight, in 2005.

Besides acting and directing films, he handled the cinematography of the short film drama, Vic, which was directed by Sage Stallone (son of actor, Sylvester Stallone Sylvester Stallone is a famous American artist, sc >> Read More... ). He also starred in the film, together with his brother Tom and mother Miriam Byrd- Nethery. He is also the cinematographer of Pornstar Pets and La Lucha: The Struggle. John got married to actress, Diane Ayala Goldner in 1986 till date. Diana is also part of the Feast.
