June Witfield has a long and successful career in musical theatre, films, and many television performances. Her father was a managing director of a company called Dictograph Telephones. She made her first stage show at the age of three years in Robinson’s dance studio, where her mother enrolled her. Whitfield attended Streatham Hill High School, but due to the Second World War, she had to leave that school. Then, she attended St. Michael’s school at Bognor Regis, and then in Huddersfield, she learned the skills including shorthand and typing. She continued to study secretarial skills at Pitman’s College in Brixton Hill.

June Whitfield graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1944 with a diploma. June Whitfield started her career in the 1940s with one of the greatest actors and radio presenters, Wilfred Pickles, and worked on stage in the West End and the regions. In 1951, she worked first in The Passing Show in a television role, and then June Whitfield joined the London cast of the musical South Pacific. Her name spreads from the radio comedy Take It From Here, where she was in the lead role in 1953. Over the next few years, June worked with most of the famous comedians, including Arthur Askey, Tony Hancock, Frankie Howard, Benny Hill, Harry H. Corbett, Wilfrid Brambell, Ronnie Barker, Richard Bries, Eric Morecambe, and Dick Emery.

She also worked as a television double-act with Terry Scott on the TV series Happy Ever After in 1974 and Terry And June in 1979. June also appeared in three popular Carry On film series: Carry On Nurse in 1959, Carry On Abroad in 1972, and Carry On Girls in 1973. In the 1980s, she again joined more theatre and radio, including The News Huddlines, a radio show hosted by Roy Hudd. In 1992, she appeared in Carry On Columbus, but it was not more successful, and in the same year, she appeared in the comedy TV Series Absolutely Fabolous, which became one the most popular comedies of that decade and highlighted her name in the Hollywood industry.
