Her father was a character artist. Her mother was a Drama therapist and also an actress. She has two siblings whose names are Michael Ernst Sorvino and Amanda Sorvino. Mira grew up raised in Tenafly, New Jersey. And she is currently living in Los Angeles, California. Mira had her schooling from Dwight-Englewood School in New Jersey. She excelled in high school. She got accepted into Harvard University. She also went Council on International Educational Exchange in Beijing, China as an exchange student. In China, she became fluent in Mandarin. She graduated from Harvard with an East Asian study degree. She also helped form a group at Harvard named Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones. Mira had her first break into the film industry with a small uncredited role of a factory worker in the film The Stuff (1985).
