Robin Rene Roberts is a Television Broadcaster or newscaster. She was born on November 23, 1960. She was born in Tuskegee, Alabama. Roberts was born to Lucimarian and Colonel Lawrence E. Roberts. She was brought up in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Roberts studied at the Pass Christian High School. She played tennis and basketball. Her father was a Tuskegee Airmen Pilot. She has three siblings Sally-Ann, Lawrence Jr, and Dorothy. Robin is the youngest of all. Sally Ann was a TV anchor in New Orleans in WWL-TV.

In 1983, she graduated from the Southeastern Louisiana University with a degree in communication. Roberts then followed the track of her sister Sally-Ann. She was offered to play basketball at Louisiana State University. But at the time she decided to enroll, she came to know that there was only tennis scholarship. So she didn’t accept the scholarship. She is an outstanding women basketball player. She is the third lead scorer in the school. She is one of the three lady Lions to score the highest points. Roberts married a massage therapist Amber Laign in 2005.

In 1983, Robin started her career as a sports anchor. She worked as a reporter in WDAM-TV in Mississippi. She went to WLOX-TV in 1984. She became the reporter and sports anchor in WSMV-TV in 1986 in Nashville. Then, she moved to WAGA-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. She worked there from 1998 to 1990. She worked as a radio anchor for V-103 in Atlanta. In February 1990, she joined as a Sportscaster in ESPN. She worked there till 2005. ‘Go on with your bad self’ is afamous phrase of hers. In 1995, she joined ABC News. She worked as a reporter in Good Morning America. She got the Mel Greenberg Media Award in 2001 from WBCA.

For many years, she worked for both Good Morning America and ESPN. She also worked as a news anchor in GMA. She then became a co-anchor of Good Morning America. Robert and George Stephanopoulos took the show to the top ratings. In April 2012, the show became the number 1 morning show. Robert hosted the Academy Award pre-show on 2009 and 2011. She got named the ESPNWs’ impact 25 in 2014. For her contributions, she was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame’. She retired with her jersey number 21 in 2011.

She got diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. On August 3, she did surgery. She completed eight chemotherapy treatments by January. She also took radiation treatment. She was diagonsed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) in 2012. Then she did bone marrow transplantation. She received Peabody Award in 2012. She also received Arthur Ashe Courage Award from ESPN in 2013.
