Danay Aguilar García is an actress, writer, producer, and podcast host. She was born on July 5, 1984, in Havana, Cuba. She escaped the Communist regime in 2003 when she fled to the U.S. with her son. She now lives in Los Angeles. Danay is best known for portraying strong characters like Sofia Lugo in the series Prison Break and Luciana Galvez in AMC’s top-rated series, Fear the Walking Dead, in TV and Film. She also played a role in the first season of the Quibi streaming series, 50 States of Fright.

Her first role was playing the lead in Maria Antonia, by Eugenio Hernandez Espinosa, in a Havana theatre production when she was 17. Since arriving in the United States of America in 2003, García started learning English with the help of teachers and dialect coaches. She began booking commercials. She also studied Ballet at the Debby Allen Dance Academy while continuing her acting studies.

Her other film credits include Avenge the Crows (2017), an independent thriller that Garcia also produced; Sniper 7, Ultimate Kill (2007), an action film produced by Sony and Mandalay Pictures. Liz en Septiembre (2014), by acclaimed director Fina Torres, Eternal Ashes (2011), which opened to critical acclaim at the Montreal Film Festival; from Mexico with Love (2009); and Danika (2006), a psychological thriller.

In 2019, the mid-length film La Cura (The Cure), written, directed, and produced by Danay, premiered on the opening night at the Baja California International Film Festival and won Best Short Film. It is about a small town in Mexico experiencing the effects of an unknown disease that forces the local pastor to make an ethical decision that will impact the lives of everyone in the village.

She is said to star in two feature films, Spiked and Baby Money. Spiked is a drama centered on a murder of a migrant worker, and Baby Money is a thriller in which she plays the role of a fugitive gang member. She is also a highly sought-after model and has been in print ads for big brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Macy's. She has featured in many U.S. and international fashion magazines, including Italian Vogue.
