Amar Sen is an artist known for his excellence. he was born in Kolkata in 1952. He was interested in art since childhood, which he developed further with enthusiasm. He is known for his various expertise in different stages of the art, including singing, acting, magic, graphic arts, and poetry and his favorite art is hand shadowgraphy. He has designed customized cards, corporate logos, and business materials for many businesses. He has also created cover pages and illustrations for many local language books, including quirky artworks for standard textbooks.

From the age of 9, he started performing his art on stage. His first interest was in music. He earned a reputation as an expert singer of Bengali classics and old Hindi masters and performed in countless programs across India and abroad.

Later he got attracted to group theatre, magic, and TV acting and thought of working further in it. He was the first person from Bengal to write and direct a science-fiction drama named Hothat Uranus-e, in 1967. After this, he established his theater named Praghunik ShilpiGoshthi in which he staged many musicals and plays of the 70s like Kokil Kahini and Raghupati O Tarani Sen. He has also done a lot of writing, directing, and acting for theatre.

His interest in magic was aroused by one of his friends, Mr. Sukumar Mukherjee, a scholar of magic who taught Amar Sen all the basics of magic. After which he started performing as a professional magician from the beginning of his twenties. His skill as a card magician grew to such an extent that he became known as the 'King of Cards' in the magician community of Kolkata. Through magic he met his hand shadowography partner, Mr. Sabyasachi Sen. Amar Sen was famous not only for hand shadowography but also as a TV actor. He has also been the anchor of many awards shows like The Bharat Nirman Awards, Outram Club Babu Adda, and the Hilsa Festival.

His interest in shadowgraphy came from seeing some hand shadow pictures while doing magic. After this, along with his fellow magician Sabyasachi Sen, he learned and advanced this art and did his first show in 1988. In this, Amar was the creator and Sabyasachi was the preserver and critic. He got his first international show in Muscat – Oman (1997). He presented his art in many forms as a casting aid in Prem Jowarey, (1991) and Swapner Din, (2004).
