He has a daughter named Alia Qureshi, who is pursuing ballet, and a son named Azann Qureshi, who is learning piano. Fazal Qureshi has inspired from his father and his brother Ustad Zakir Hussain to become a tabla player. When Fazal Qureshi was fifteen years old, he started learning tabla, whereas his brother, Zakir Hussain began playing when Fazal Qureshi was just eight years old. Under the guidance of his guru & father, the great tabla maestro, late Ustad Allah Rakha, and with the inspiration from his brother, Fazal Qureshi has developed a unique style that is eminent for its fine sense of rhythm, eloquence, and versatility. He performs as a soloist and as an accompanist.

His deep knowledge & dedication to Indian classical music assists him to accompany north and south Indian instrumentalists, vocalists, and dancers.
