Hamida Banu is a well-known playback singer from the Bollywood film industry. She was born on19 October 1928 in Lahore, British India. To start her career in singing, Hamid and her sister moved to Bombay but later settled in Calcutta with her family as she did not find any work in Bombay. In Calcutta, she started acting and singing in the drama and stage plays at Prithvi Theatre.
