Phansalkar has also been a part of many musical shows and music albums. He is known for giving voice to the number Kadaruperi Kalokhachi for the album Majhe Man Tujhe Jhaale. The album was released in 2019. Phansalkar pursued a diploma in commercial applied arts from Raheja School of Arts, Bandra, Mumbai. He also donned the role of volleyball team captain at the college, was general cultural secretary and gave performances at the annual function. He pursued his further studies at Abhinav College of Arts, Pune. His subjects at the college were applied arts, designing, copywriting, advertising, illustration, et al. He participated actively in drama and singing competitions. Upon completing his higher studies, the Marathi singer worked as an assistant producer, graphic arts for Doordarshan, Mumbai. After that, he worked freelance at Akashvani, Pune for over twenty years.  He works as a singer with Anubhuti for about thirty years now. The accomplished artist has given performances for charity shows for the past thirty years. 

The veteran singer has been a recipient of several awards. In 1985, he was honored with the State Award for Best Exhibit of the Year by the Directorate of Art, State Government of Maharashtra. He was awarded the same prize for another year. He secured the Best Dissertation In the State award by the Directorate of Art, Maharashtra Government. He has received other honors like the Lata Mangeshkar-Hafeez Khan Scholarship, Usha Atre Puraskar, Manik Varma Puraskar. Besides Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, he also won the title at TVS SAREGAMA, aired on Zee TV In 1995.
