Kuldeep’s mother was a famous local singer who later trained her son in folk singing. When he was in school, he used to participate in several singing competitions and won many of them. In 1994, at 16, he got selected in the AIR Shimla audition. He impressed the judges with his talent, and they offered him to record three songs with them.

His first stage performance was in 1997 at the Dharamshala Summer Festival. He later released an album and started to produce a remix of folk songs that were appreciated by the audience. In the movie Kurukshetra (2000), his song ‘Ban Than Chali Bolo’ was remixed with Sukhwinder Singh Sukhwinder Singh, an asset to the Bollywood Music >> Read More... . ™ Music company in Punjab called him to record songs for them after noticing his talent. All the songs were big hits which made Kuldeep famous in Himachal. Kuldeep’s first original song was Supne Di Mili Bolo Ameya tu Meriye under the mentorship of his maternal uncle Liaq Ram Rafiq. He has also worked on a few Bhajan albums. Some of his famous Himachali songs are Rohru jana meri aamiye, Meri Preeti Zinta kindi chali tu, Meri Monika, Dhola ra dhamaka and Pata paani ra ho meri gaangiye.

In 2019 he recorded two songs for the Hindi movie Van Rakshak. He was roped in for the Bollywood movie Yaariyan (2020) starring Shakti Kapur. Kuldeep has promoted the Himachali culture across the globe with his national and international performances. He is one of the youngest singers of the All India Radio Shimla. Other than all this, Kuldeep is known to be a follower of the Sant Nirankari Mission and attends satsang in his leisure time. On 6th May 1995, he was awarded by Hindi Sangram Parishad for his tremendous work in the field of music. He has been awarded the Best Pahari Singer two times. He also received Pahari Mrinal Award and the Him Shri Award.
