Mangala Kenkre is a well-known film, theater, and TV actress. Many of her films have won international acclaim. Mangala has successfully portrayed the character of Bhagyashree in Godh Bharaai serial and of Vaani in Kaali- Ek Punar Avatar.

Godh Bharaai, her serial, centers on the story of a woman who faces the social stigma of being childless. It portrays the varied roles a woman has to play in life – that of daughter, wife, daughter in law and mother. Though most of these come naturally to her, the role of a mother may or may not fall within her experience. It is in this condition of being childless, that the woman is scorned at, in society, for no fault of hers. Godh Bharaai deals with this topic with high sensitivity and Mangala with her experience in acting contributes to the realness of the serial with her role of Bhagyashree.

In Kaali- Ek Punar Avtar, Mangala plays the role of Vaani, who is a primary school teacher, sensitive to the issues relating to children and wanting to bring positive changes in their lives. Being a single mother after the death of her husband, Vaani takes good care of her children. Likewise, she instills the values of morality, truthfulness, and valor in the children whom she teaches. All the children respect her, and she is their favorite teacher.

Other than serials, Mangala has been a very successful film artist. She played the role of Shobha in the 2005 release Sarkar followed by Welcome To Sajjanpur in 2008. Earlier, in 2004, she portrayed the role of Arjun’s mother in Hava Aaney Dey. Two of her other acclaimed roles are that of Jasmine’s mom in Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara and Ratnamma in The Dirty Picture. Theatre has been a big attraction to Mangala. She is part of the drama series being broadcast on DD Sahyadri by the name of Mahacharcha.

She is nearly 50 years old and is still going strong as far the acting is concerned.
