Purva Naresh

Purva Naresh, born on 20th June 1974(age-45 years), in Junpur, Uttar Pradesh, is a writer, director, dancer, and an occasional actor who is renowned for portraying powerful women characters. She has crafted some of the most beautifully detailed characters in productions such as Preth, Rang hai, Umrao, etc, which are all staged by her production house called ‘Aarambh Mumbai’. Purva Naresh comes from a very rich cultural background.

Her mother, Shrimati Vijaya Naresh, taught her singing, and she learned creative writing from her father, Shri Naresh Saxena, who is a renowned, respected Hindi poet. She did her BA (Hons) in economics from the Delhi University, followed by a Masters in Pakhavaj from Khairagarh University. She has written more than ten plays, all of which have been staged in India as well as abroad.

The Royal Court and London and Curve theatre invited her to read and present her plays.
