Champa P. Shetty is an Indian film director known for her contribution to Kannada cinema. She works predominantly in the Kannada film industry. Champa P. Shetty's journey in Kannada theatre first began in 1991, when she enrolled in a Kannada theatre workshop organized by Prayoga Ranga, an amateur Kannada theatre group. She was also active in activist street play productions with social concerns like eradicating alcohol abuse, and awareness campaign on cleanliness and hygiene in slums, villages, rural places, etc. She also participated in many workshops such as 'Bidi Nataka Nirdheshakara Karyagara' organized by the State Resource Center, Karnataka, and 'Nataka Rachana Shibira' organized by Kannada Sahitya Parishat. These workshops helped her in successfully directing and organizing many street plays. She was also the cultural coordinator for the Bangalore Rural Literacy campaign, where she used to organize women's conferences. Champa P. Shetty has an expressive voice that benefitted her in starting a career as a voice artist for feature films and documentaries. She started her voice acting career with director Upendra’s Kannada movie ‘A,’ which was released in 1998 in which, director Upendra acted himself with Chandini in the lead role.

She has done many voiceovers for many famous actresses in addition to major characters in over 500 movies in Kannada Language. She was not only a director or a voice artist but also an actress. In this step, she was accompanied by her husband and some friends. In Ranga mandapa, she directed two theatre productions ‘Gandhi Banda’ and ‘Akku.’ Both the plays received critical acclaim and progressively have seen more than 100 shows all over India. The play Gandhi Banda is an adaptation of the novel of the same name. The play ‘Akku’ is the short version of three short stories written by Dr.Vaidehi, who is also a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award for Kannada.

After gaining much experience in the field of movie direction and the film industry, Champa P. Shetty made her directional debut with Ammachchi Yemba Nenapu.’ It is based on the book Huccheri Koli Esru Prasanga, written by KT Chikkana. Her second movie as a director, ‘Koli Esru,’ received appreciation from critics and was loved by general audiences. The movie was premiered at several prestigious film festivals. Champa P. Shetty has been an actor and director in Kannada theatre for many years and won many awards in various fields due to her skills. She has won a gold medal in an MA in performing arts from Bangalore University. Her fantatic voice has given her recognition and a successful career as a voice artist. Along with dubbing in more than 500 Kannada movies and many Kannada documentaries, she has anchored many prestigious live programs. She won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Dubbing Artist (Female) for the year 2007-08 for her voiceover in the movie ‘Kurunadu.’ Champa P. Shetty is known for Belakinedege (2013) and Ammachi Yemba Nenapu (2018), a script that evolved from the play ‘Akku.’
