Vinay Kumar Joseph is a famous director. He started his career as a theater actor at 12 with the Communist Party's Theater Repertory Company. He did acting in the School of Drama, Kerala. After this, he received an education in Kathakali from Guru Krishnan Namboodri in 1992. He studied Kalaripayattu at Anghanam Theatre. He joined Veenapani Chawla, theater director and founder of Adishakti Laboratory, for Theater Arts Research in January 1993. Vinay also joined Veenapani in many of his researches.
He also acted in many notable plays of Adishakti like Bhima, Brhannala, and Ganapati. He also collaborated with many international artists such as musician Paul Dresher, Chinese Peking Opera Director Chen Zhi Zhen, and filmmaker Lucia King. He also created many theater works in Villa Waldberta. He was also awarded the Senior Fellowship and Amrish Puri Award for Theater from the Ministry of Culture in 2012-2013.
