She was the recipient of the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for the movies Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha (2009) in which she played the role of Cheeru and Salt N' Pepper (2011). In her modelling career, apart from winning the renowned title she became the first Gladrags female supermodel and ended up as a semi-finalist in the Miss Asia Pacific contest. Shweta made her debut in the Malayalam film Anaswaram in the year 1991 as Catherine. In 1992, she was seen in the movies Welcome to Kodaikanal, and Nakshthrakoodaram. She played the role of Sashlika in the film Koushalam (1993). After this, she ventured into the world of beauty pageants. She was the third runner-up in 1994 at the Miss India contest. She became the first female super model for Gladrags in the very same year. After this, she became a semi-finalist in the Miss Asia Pacific contest. She has won many other accolades for her modeling.
After this, Shweta made her debut in Bollywood with 1997 movies Prithvi and Ishq. Ishq gained her a lot of popularity after which she acted in films such as Bandhan (1998), Shikari (2000), Asoka (2001), Ab Ke Baras (2002), and Corporate (2006) to name a few. She created a glamorous image for herself by acting in over 30 movies. She focused on her Malayalam career post-2006 with movies such as Thantra and

For the 2009 film Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha Shweta won many awards, including the Best Actress Filmfare Award – Malayalam, and the Best Actress Award of Jai Hind TV. Also nominated for the World Malayali Association Award for Kairali TV Best Supporting Actress, Vanitha-Nippon Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress, Kerala Film Critics Award for Second Best Actress, Asianet Film Award for Best Supporting Actress, and the Special Jury Award is given by Amrita TV – Mathrubhumi, she has many nominations under her belt.
City of God (2011), Salt N’ Pepper (2011) and Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty (2012) are films for which Shweta garnered the Best Supporting Actress award from Filmfare – Malayalam. Her 2011 film Salt N' Pepper gained her the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress. For her portrayal as Meera in the movie Kalimannu she won a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam.
Some of Shweta’s other awards include the Kerala Film Producers Association’s Most Popular Actress & Second Best Actress in Malayalam (2010), Srividya Puraskaram for Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha (2010), Bharathamuni Award for Rajanna (2011). In 2012, she won the Vanitha Film Awards for Best Pair. In 2013, she won the Jaihind TV Film Award for Best Actress and the Asianet Film Awards for Best Character Actress for the film Ozhimuri. She also won the Asiavision Awards for Outstanding Performance for her role in Kalimannu.
Shweta has also acted in some TV shows as an actor and an anchor. For hosting the musical show Star Wars in 2008, she won the Asian Television Award for Best Anchor. She also hosted a show with
Arshad Warsi called Razzmatazz. This show was aired on Zee TV group bands. She was also seen on Colors’ 2008 show Dancing Queen followed by 2010’s Honeymoon Travels. She, along with her father, appeared on Surya TV;s Deal or No Deal. She anchored Veruthe Alla Bharya which was a reality show, on Mazhavil Manorama. She also participated in
Ningalkkum Aakaam Kodeeshwaran, which was a game show on Asianet. She also hosted a reality show Minto Goal Comedy Stars on the same channel. Flower TVs Star Challenge is also a show in which she has participated. Besides these, Shweta has also been in numerous advertisements.
Shweta got married to Sreevalsan Menon in 2011 and has a daughter Sabaina Menon with him. The shooting of this delivery took place, and it became a part of the movie Kalimannu.
