Shanmughadas

Shanmughadas is a writer and film critic who is from Kerala, India. He was born in Ottapalam, Shanmughadas, and currently lives in Thrissur. He gained a postgraduate degree in English Literature and after that, he began his professional life as a teacher in Mumbai and then as a lecturer in English in various Government colleges across the state. He gets his retirement as a lecturer from Sri C. Achutha Menon Government College, Thrissur. The recent federation with film societies encouraged him to take an effective element in the film society movement and activities. In the middle of the 1970s, he started writing articles on cinema. In 1999, he also received the National Award for being the best film critic. He also wrote the book Sanchariyude Veedu, which is based on the films of Satyajit Ray Biographies reveal bare details about the maverick >> Read More... , and this book won the State award for the best book on cinema in 1996. He also received a state award for the best article, as he has written an article on M.T Vasudevan Nair's Nirmalyam in the year 2013. He is the recipient of Kerala Sahitya Akademi's Vilasini Puraskaram for the best literary criticism for the book which was written by him only named as Shareeram Nadhi Nakhathram on The God of Small Things. He also received G.N Pilla Endowment Award for the best academic article and Kozhikodan Award for the best book on cinema.
