Nepali Actor Rajesh Hamal

Rajesh Hamal, an actor and TV host, was born on 9 June 1964 in Tansen, Palpa, Nepal. He is famous as Maha Nayak in the Nepali film industry and Rajesh Dai in Nepal. He was one of the highest-paid actors in the Nepali film industry in the 1990s and early 2000s. His father's name is Chuda Bahadur Hamal, who worked as the Nepali ambassador to Pakistan. He studied till 8th standard at a private school in Nepal. He went to Moscow with his father in his early teens and started to attend college in Russia.

He continued his education at Panjab University in Chandigarh, where he did an M.A. in English Literature. He married Madhu Bhattarai on 24 May 2014 at Hotel Annapurna, Kathmandu. Their first meeting was at the Lux Beauty Pageant in 2004. Rajesh Hamal proposed to Madhu on 14 May 2014. He debuted in the Nepal film industry with his uncle Deepak Raymajhi's film Yug Dekhi Yug Samma (1989), which made him a nationwide star. His 1991 film Deuta was a blockbuster, which made him a superstar. He has done 200-plus films in his three-decade career. He is known for his work in Kasam (1992), Shankar (1997), Hami Tin Bhai (2004), Sadak and Prithvi (1994), Ek Number Ko Pakhe (1999), Simana (1996), Basanti (2000), Ajambari Nata (2005), and Dhukdhuki (2000). 

He started his career as a model in India for a fashion magazine named Fashion Net when he studied at the University of Delhi. He appeared in the late 1980s at a fashion show by the Indian Embassy Women's Association. He started to appear in TV shows and ads in 2004. His first TV show was Wai Wai Quiz Whiz. He appeared as a guest on the Miss Angel Programme. He also hosted the Nepali version of the show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? or Ko Bancha Crorepati? in 2019. He endorsed the first bike made in Nepal called Cosmic Ying Yang. 

He won the National Film Award for Best Actor in Deuta, Aparadh, Sadak, Rana Bhoomi, and Chandani and Best Supporting Actor in Paribhasa, Prithvi, Simana, and Bandhan. He won the CG Digital Award for Best Actor in Chhori Buhari and Chandal. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor in Comic role in Mr Ram Krishne and Hath Ma Lagyo Sunya, Best Supporting Actor in Dharmaa, and Best Comedian in Chhabilal Kanjus Chaina.
