. Kumar started his musical journey as a music composer in 2000. His debut album, Yo Sansar, was wholly composed by himself and had attained a lot of acclimation. After that, he released several songs and albums like Umer in 2001. Kumar's famous song," Maile Chhoyeko Paani Chaldaina," helped him bag several awards and was loved by Nepali music lovers. Kumar also appeared in all his music videos, which is how his acting career started. Kumar is known to be an artist who raises his voice against social injustice.
He has composed and written several songs that revolve around the caste issues in his place. He infuses sentimental lyrics and adds a contemporary touch to them. Kumar is a well-known artist and has been awarded several honors, including The National Film Award for Best Playback Singer in 2011, Nefta Film Award in 2008 for Best Debut Actor, and Box Office Film Award in 2012 for the same category. Yash Kumar debuted as a lead actor in the film, " Bato Muni ko Phool," released in 2010. The film became the highest-grossing film in the Nepali Box Office of that year. His other movies include Veer, Baato Muniko Phool 2, Tshering, and many more. He directed the film Tshering in 2018 too.
