Velmurugan Periyavan is a photographer, cinematographer, director and traveler hailing from the town of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. Velmurugan was born on 5 April 1972 and has a diploma from MGR Government Film and Television Institute. Velmurugan has been teaching filmmaking in the same institute since 1999. Periyavan’s cinematography expands to TV commercials, feature films, and TV serials. Velmurugan released his research work on South Indian Feature Films in the year 2017 with the title- Tamil Thiraipada Nootrandu- 2018 / Tamil Film Centenary- 2018. The work is in Tamil language. He made his debut as a director in the South Indian Film industry through the silent film- ADAVI in 2018.
