Ilyas Ahmed

Ilyas has made a mark of his own as a senior broadcaster, writer, and TV series director. He entered the TV field in 1988. He wrote and produced the crime-thriller PaharaaHushaar for Doordarshan. In 1992, he was awarded the Nandi Award for Best-Debut Director for his short film. Later, he wrote and directed a paranormal TV series, Anveshita, for ETV. The series was recognised and won many awards, including two Nandi Awards in 1997 and 1998. In 2003–2005, Ilyas also wrote and directed another daily series, Alaukika, for ETV. This standout series was based on Dimension Shift, Alien Contacts, and Time Travel.

Ilyas has written short stories, features, and a few novels in Telugu. His novels, The Final Warning and KodalaKodalaKodukuPellama, were serialised and later published as books. Ilyas has hosted and presented innumerable programmes for Akashvani since 1972, and he has also written and produced more than 100 radio plays and features. In addition, he headed a media company that broadcast a special multi-lingual programme called "Japa4" on AIR FM frequencies, giving the radio listeners of Hyderabad a taste of FM radio before the launch of private FM channels.

Recently, Ilyas launched a unique website, podcasttheatre.in, on which he will host audio and video web-series, audio-stories, and audio-books in Telugu, English, Hindi, and Urdu. He is also writing screenplays in unusual genres for movies.
