Tollywood Goes The Mollywood Way!

While Telugu cinema might not be hitting bullseye at the box office, it is certainly changing its approach.

These days, more and more producers are opting for content rich projects. Some may not have been very successful, but the result of many projects have a common message: Malayalam cinema will have tough competition from Tollywood.

How so? Since January 2024, the audience has been preferring content over show and pomp. On the other hand, movies with budgets less than 30 crores have not only succeeded, but also compelled the audiences to think. On one hand you have a superhero themed ‘Hanu Man’ hitting the jackpot. On the other hand, you see a dark comedy like “Tillu Square” appearing out of nowhere.

This is a mirror image of Malayalam cinema, where content is ruling the roost right now. Besides, with films like ‘Mahanati’, ‘Major’, and ‘Karthikeya 2’ having tasted unprecedented success in the past, the road to blockbuster success is not that tough!

Even films like ‘Gaami’ and ‘Om Bheem Bush’ have impressed the audience in a unique way. Probably that is why NTR Jr. mentioned that it would be stars like Vishwak Sen and Siddhu Jonnalagadda who would take Tollywood forward.
