Dasari Narayana Rao is an Indian cinema director who has mainly worked in Telugu movies and has credit to some Bollywood movies too. He was born on 4 May 1947 in Palakol, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. He has done his graduation in BA and had an interest in acting and directing since then. He has performed in many drama competitions. Most of the films he has done in his career have laid emphasis on corruption, gender discrimination and injustice.
He has done over 150 films as a director and also produced 53 films. He got married to
Dasari Padma, producer and they have a son, Arun Kumar Desai, who is an actor. In his early life, he had launched a newspaper, Udayam, which got very famous.
He was also elected as the Rajya Sabha member and became the Minister of State in Ministry of Coal. He has directed the most no. of films and holds The Limca World Record for the same. His movies like Surigaadu has also been screened at the International Film Festival of India. Meghasandesam, one of his movies was received so well that got featured in Indian panorama, Chicago, Moscow film festivals and 1983 Cannes Film Festival. He has received six
