Vijayalalitha (Vijaya Lalitha) is an Indian actress who acted in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam films. She is the aunt of Vijayashanti; former Telugu superstar actress turned politician. Vijaya Lalitha is also relative to the another actress Vijaya Nirmala. Lalitha was the ultimate ‘James Bond‘ girl in Telugu movies playing her character opposite actor Krishna. She also acted with N.T Rama Rao and Akkineni Nageswara Rao. She also acted in few Hindi films such as ‘Rani Mera Naam’, a 1972 Bollywood drama film which had Ashok Kumar and Premnath in lead roles.

In ‘Haathkadi’, she played mayor’s wife which had Govinda and Shilpa Shetty in pivotal roles. The actress dominated the Telugu screen because of her professionalism and punctuality on the sets. In 1967, she acted in a film ‘Sakshi’ which was a milestone film for Krishna and Vijaya Nirmala. The film was a critical and financial success and was an entry to ‘Tashkent film festival' in 1968. Although she acted in some social, comedy and family dramas in her career, she is most notable for her roles in films like Rowdy Rani, Revolver Rani, Chalaki Rani Khiladi Raja, Bhale Rangadu, Manushullo Devudu, Kadaladu Vadaladu, etc.

She created an image of her on the screen as ‘James Bond’ girl and was liked by the audience for appearing in Police, CID, suspense and thrilling genre movies. Vijaya Lalitha faced severe competition with other dancing actresses like L. Vijayalakshmi, Gitanjali, Venniradai Nirmala. Vijaya Lalitha made her debut when L. Vijayalakshmi left for the US after her wedding. The film industry booked Vijaya Lalitha for ‘Bheemanjeneya Yuddham’ but the film ran only for two days. Surprisingly, the industry yet gave her tiny roles in many films. From there on, she grew in stature and worked in numerous successful films over the span of ten years. She dazzled the screen as a club dancer or a character that precipitated the dramatic tension yet remained an integral part of the film. Her selfless dedication did not go unrewarded. Hence, this actress had maintained her activities with fan clubs during her peak period and made her fans happy.
