Gulab Chandio was also known as Ghulam Muhammad Gulab. He was a Pakistani film and television Urdu actor. He was born on January 6, 1958. Gulab Chandio’s place of birth is Shahmir Chandio Village in Nawabshah district, Pakistan. He was born and raised in an agriculturer’s house. He took his school education in the village.Then, he passed intermediate at the Government College in Nawabshah. His nationality is Pakistani. Gulab Chandiowent to Karachi in 1976, where he did a clerk’s job in the food department. In 1978, he returned back to Nawabshah after he had done short stints in many private firms. He took a decision to become an actor after returning to Karachi. In early 1980s, he emerged as a television actor and began his career in Sindhi dramas. He first gained fame for his role in Sindhi dramas during the television’s golden era in the 1980s.

He portrayed the debut lead role in 1982 opposite SakinaSamo in the television industry with the Sindhi drama “BiyoShakhs” (The Other Man) written by Sindhi fiction writer Kehar Shaukat. He appeared in many plays and serials, including Sindhi dramas Saam, Talash, Jiyapo, Jangal, Mittiaja Manhoo, and Ghulam, and Urdu serials Rawish, Noori Jam Tamachi, Zeenat, Tipu Sultan, and SaagarkaAansoo. He gained popularity for his roles in drama serials Chand Girhan Chand Girhan is a Pakistani serial  premiered in 1 >> Read More... and Marvi. He was considered as a well-known Sindhi actor of Pakistani television drama industry who was recognized for his outstanding delivery of dialogues as he is called as the villain of all the plays. Despite being known as devil of Pakistani dramas, he was a very simple, humble and great human being in real which is completely against to his on screen character.

In 1990, he portrayed the leading role in another Sindhi film Muhib Sheedi. Throughout his artistic career, he had appeared in over three hundred Urdu and Sindhi dramas and six films. Also, he contested in the Pakistani general elections twice from Nawabshah and Karachi, but lost both times. He joined a political party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in 2016. In 2016, he was honoured with the President’s Pride of Performance Award for his service in art and drama. Gulab Chandio died on January 18, 2019 in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. He was a suffering from a long illness, and was a heart patient with chronic diabetes.
