Zia Gurchani is an established Pakistani television actor and writer. Born on April 24, 1970, he hails from Quetta, Balochistan. His brother, Jahanzeb Gurchani, is a renowned actor known for his work in PTV Home’s Urdu serials in the 1990s. Zia holds a Master’s degree in Political Science. Having tried his luck in modeling for a brief period, he ultimately found fame as the host of a children’s program every Sunday from Radio Pakistan, Quetta, in the early 2000s. It was with PTV Dramas that he started his acting career. The late journalist Zafar Samdani introduced him to the entertainment industry.

After his debut drama Kasak, he appeared in PTV Home’s Khaleej and Husn-e-Jaana, as well as Geo TV’s Betaab in 1986. Perhaps his best-known work, he appeared in Hum TV’s Yaqeen Ka Safar in 2017, playing the role of one of the leading characters, Gaiti’s father. Directed by Shahzad Kashmiri, this highly acclaimed Pakistani drama had an ensemble cast consisting of Ahad Raza Mir, Sajal Aly, Shaz Khan, and Hira Mani alongside Zia Gurchani. In the same year, he starred in Hum TV’s Alif Allah Aur Insan and Geo TV’s Adhoora Bandhan and Khaani. In 2018, he starred in Hum TV’s Mah-e-Tamaam and Main Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka, playing the role of Safdar in the latter. Apart from this, he also appeared in ARY Digital’s Nibah, TV One’s Khwabzaadi, and Geo TV’s Romeo Weds Heer, where he played the role of Romeo’s father, Dr. Shahbaz Raja. In 2019, he appeared in Geo TV’s Dil Kiya Karay, playing the role of Armaan’s father. Directed by Mehreen Jabbar, the series features Feroze Khan and Yumna Zaidi in lead roles.
