20 Posters From Bollywood That Are Copied From Hollywood

Our Bollywood movies have often taken inspiration from foreign movies or novels; this inspiration is not limited to story or music but many other things. There is indeed no harm in taking inspiration, but blatantly copying is something that has been happening since very long. Indian music directors have often been condemned for copying music from foreign musical creations. But our copying tendencies are not limited to music only. Here is a list of 20 Bollywood posters, that have been copied from other posters. Take a look!

1. Lords Of Dogtown – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

The blockbuster movie starring Hrithik, Farhan, Abhay, Kalki and Katrina was indeed a very refreshing and inspiring movie, a film that will inspire you to go on a road trip with your friends. However, we cannot say the same about the poster of the movie which was a copy of The Lords of Downtown. The only thing that was modified was that the shirtless guy is in the centre of the poster for the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

The makers thought, only adding a rose will make the posters look entirely different? The two images are so identical, even the shade of the lipstick and the colour and consistency of the drop of blood is exactly the same. But points to the creativity of the design team, who added the rose.

3. My Big Fat Greek Wedding – Hulchal

Such a blatant copy of the poster of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the poster of Hulchul had exactly everything copied. From the pose of the actors to the background of a building and blue sky to the profiles of rest of the cast, every element of the poster was copied. Simply making the Bride and Groom wear Indian attire was not sufficient to hide the fact that the poster was the exact copy of another poster. The only thing original was probably the title of the movie as far as the poster was concerned.

4. Titanic- Mausam

We don’t have to explain the similarities between the two movies, as it was only the poster. Titanic a blockbuster movie, a classic, a movie that people will remember forever and on the other hand Mausam, a movie that all of us are trying hard to forget. From the dancing pose of the lead couple to the expressions, everything is copied. The only discrepancy extends in the fact that the poster for Titanic features the ship, while the poster of Mausam features a plane. Did the design team really think such a minor change would have made such a major difference? I guess no.

5. An Education – Anjana Anjani

From the background to the expression to the posture, apart from the title and the colour of the dress, we could not spot any difference between these two posters. This movie by Ranbir and Priyanka was an interesting concept which did moderately well; we wish a little creativity on the movie poster front wouldn't have hurt that much.

6. Sahara- Naksha

Well, what do we say about this movie? We cannot say much about the movie; so let us just stick to the poster, sadly that too was not original. It was copied from the poster of Sahara. The makers of Naksha did not even think that simply keeping the actress in the centre was worth that effort. The background to the postures and positions of the actors, everything, was copied. At least the design team for the poster of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara took the pain of making Hrithik stand in the centre.

No point for guessing, even the poster of the movie was a disaster. This movie with Saif and Kareena not only failed as far as the story and box office was concerned, but also the poster of the movie was a copy. The similarities with the poster of Jhonny English are not something that one can ignore. From the outfit of the actors to the posture in the image to the background, everything was a copy.

The makers of the Replacement Killers, are probably very angry with the poster of Rowdy Rathore. Simply making the background colourful and Indianizing the lead characters did not make a huge difference. Akshay and Sonakshi's movie poster sadly was a cheap replica of the original one.

The posters of both these movies were pretty similar. The images captured in the outline of the body of a soldier to the colour scheme of the poster. The only variation we could make out was the fact that, while the Shahrukh, Katrina, and Anushka's movie had more of a romantic feel to the poster, the other had a war like- army feel to it. However, the two posters are pretty similar.

10. Final Destination 2 - Bhoot

What was the design team for Ram Gopal Verma’s Bhoot poster thinking while shamelessly copying the poster for the movie? At least the makers could have used a different colour combination to make a person think twice before labelling the poster of Bhoot to be a copy, but no. From the merging faces to the colors of the faces, the black background, and the effects, everything of this epic horror films poster is copied.

Simply changing the colour of the background and the looks of the actors, won’t hide the fact that, the poster of the Bollywood disaster named kites is inspired by the very famous movie’s poster, The Notebook. Adding a kite might have helped. But alas the makers were too inspired by the poster of the notebook, that they thought to copy the poster was the right thing to do.

Wow! Simply shifting the hand in the posters would make such a difference right? The makers of Phoonk 2 copied the poster of chaser so effectively; they thought changing the hand on the face as showcased in the poster of chaser would hide the fact that the poster of the movie is nothing but a copy.It seems like Ram Gopal Verma needs a team of creative minds to design posters for his movies.

Apart from the fact that Malika is dressed like a devil and standing on top of a car, the poster of Ugly and Pagli is a copy of the poster of ‘til death. From the way of Malika holding Ranveer to Ranveer’s expression, the similarities are too much to digest.

Not only Amir’s movie was a Hindi Adaptation of South Indian movie, but also the poster was copied. The poster of the blockbuster movie Ghajini was the blatant copy of the poster of the movie Hulk. Well, it won't be the initial that Amir's movie poster is copied. Another of Amir 's film Talash had its poster similar to mission impossible “ghost protocol.”

It is sad even to say that these two movies have something in common, we wish Himesh’s The Xpose would have copied a thing or two from the movie too, apart from the poster. From the concept to the background, everything was copied.

16. The Graduate – Aitraaz

Did the makers of Aitraaz actually believe the change of adding a stiletto to the poster would make us believe that the poster of Aitraaz, starring Akshay, Kareena and Priyanka is entirely different from The Graduate? Well, First it was Aitraaz then Rowdy Rathore, Akshay’s movie posters do not justify the versatility of the actor that he is.

17. Looper– The Lunch Box

Looper and the Lunchbox, these two were entirely different concepts but had the same kind of posters. The movie starring Nimrat and Irfaansurely had a unique story, but the same cannot be said about the movie's poster.

The makers were not so Tezz if they thought they could fool the audiences by copying the poster of The Fugitive. However, points have to be given to the team as they had the idea of adding another person to the poster and not making the poster blatant copy.

19. Anti Christ – Murder- 2

Simply changing the profile from back to the left cannot change the fact that the poster of Murder 2 is a replica of Anti-Christ. Creativity, where are you? Far away from the design team of the people who designed this particular poster. Murder 2 is not the first time for Imran though, Jannat, Ashiq Banaya Apne are also said to have copied posters of foreign films too.

20. Batman - Ra One

We expected some creativity from Badshah Khan’s movie poster. The poster is a copy of the Batman poster. Changing the jeans to a saree and making the background blue was not sufficient sadly. Apart from this particular poster, the other poster of the movie was a copy of the poster of Tron. Guess all superheroes film posters look alike.
