There will always be a set of films that were prioritised, scheduled & shot, or in the worst case, not even shot after including several A-level actors in potential blockbusters. Many times, the movie gets cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. It isn’t unheard of for a film’s release date to be postponed a few months, followed by procrastination, more delays & the subsequent cancellation of the venture. Today, we will be highlighting the most notable works that got cancelled in Bollywood. Here’s our list of the top ten Bollywood ventures that got cancelled after production.

1. ‘ Shuddhi

A film that faced too many obstacles before it even started, Shuddhi lay covered by a cloud of ambiguity when it came to the producer. Unable to finalize the leads at first, he cast Hrithik Roshan & Kareena Kapoor Khan side by side. Unfortunately, as soon as these two got cast, they walked out of the film. The role was meant to go to Salman Khan, but that failed as well since he was too busy. His exit followed the roping in of Varun Dhawan & Alia Bhatt as love interests. However, the movie yet again met tumultuous tides when Sanjay Dutt walked out of the project since he didn’t want to play the negative role. Earlier slated to be released in 2016, the film later got shelved & no work took place ever since.

2. ‘Chandni Chowk To Africa’

When director Nikhil Advani invested a whopping budget of 62 crores in ‘Chandni Chowk To Africa,’ collaborated with Warner Brothers for his work, expectations were very high for this Akshay Kumar & Deepika Padukone starrer. There was even a teaser at the end of the film, for the scheduled sequel. However, CCTC was a box office disaster, & the next film in the series got cancelled.

3. ‘ Koochie Koochie Hota Hai

Animated remake of the 1990 hit film ‘ Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,’ ‘Koochie Koochie Hota Hai’ had to be released somewhere late in 2011. Involving a star cast of Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Rani Mukerji, etc. giving voice-overs, filming began in 2010. Since then, it is currently on hold.

4. ‘ Time Machine

In his attempt to create a science-fiction film, similar to the likes of Hollywood hit ‘Back To The Future,’ Shekhar Kapur began his ambitious project titled ‘Time-Machine’ which featured Aamir Khan, Naseerrudin Shah, Raveena Tandon, Rekha & Gulshan Grover in lead roles. The movie faced the brunt of cancellation due to financial problems.

5. ‘ Power

Initially having Ajay Devgn as the protagonist, this work later involved Amitabh Bachan, Sanjay Dutt & Anil Kapoor, who went on a marketing rampage. Despite all this, the movie, unfortunately, faced burial & no talks took the place of reviving this piece.

6. ‘ Dus

This new concept, which involved a one partner freeing the other from a terrorist organization, featured Sanjay Dutt & Salman Khan as members of a covert group called ‘Force 10.’ 40 percent of it got shot when director Mukul S. Anand met his unfortunate demise. His work henceforth got cancelled.

7. ‘Shoe Bite’

A venture that almost got directed by the talented Shoojit Sircar, fresh off his plate with the success of ‘ Vicky Donor,’ ‘Shoe bite’ starred Amitabh Bachan as an aged man named Perera, who sets out on a journey of introspection. The film followed a dispute between Percept Pictures, Twentieth-Century Fox & UTV motion pictures. Eventually, the rights of directing it went to twentieth-century Fox, starring Denzel Washington in the old man’s role.

8. ‘Munna Bhai Chale Amerika’

Meant to be the third installment in the much loved Munnabhai franchise, the teaser for this film was met with a lot of appreciation. However, following Sanjay Dutt’s arrest after 2010, the film will be made soon after his release.

9. ‘ Khabardar

A film that moved along the same lines as yesteryear hit ‘Anand’ featured Amitabh Bachan in the role of the doctor & Kamal Haasan in the role of the patient. Unfortunately, the movie got cancelled as soon as it started filming.

10. ‘Taalisman’

This Vidhu Vinod Chopra project, based on Devaki Khatri Nandan’s acclaimed novel Chandrakanta originally had to be directed by Ram Madhvani. A work which puts into light Chopra’s ambitious vision, it followed an epic trailer. Unfortunate, it met a financial crisis & got subsequently shelved.
