Chennai Sinks In The Continuous Rain – Chembarambakkam Reservoir Opened To Execute Excess Water!
Chennai, the capital city, is facing a severe crisis on account of the lashing rain. To avoid the fissure to the reservoir that might cause, tremendous damage to the human lives, the government released the excess water in the Chembarambakkam lake to Adyar River. As the water flow is 20,000 cubic feet per second, people living near Adyar are requested to shift their residence to safer places. E. Sundaravalli, the Chennai Collector, issued the safety precautions to the people and warned the people in the lowlands to move to more sheltered areas. The rain continuously thrashes the city and the people of Chennai become the victims of the rain and could not move out to get even the essential needs. Educational institutions are closed. Working people are the highest sufferers in the city. The transportation services are shattered. Electric train services are also disrupted, due to the heavy water log in the tracks. The roads are flooded, and the people could not even move to safer places. Even some flights returned due to bad weather. Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Pondicherry, Cuddalore and Tuticorin are affected severely. Meanwhile, the reports say that the low-pressure lies between Tamilnadu and Sri Lanka and the rain might get severe for the next four days.
