There has been sufficient hype and buildup for movie Mersal. Now, there is a situation such that the fans of Vijay are in for a big disappointment. It is due to the fact that the Kollywood has been hit by a new crisis. It is a known fact that the State Government has made announcement of a new local body tax. This forced some multiplexes to go on strike from Tuesday. Following the dual taxation, the producers have risen in protest against the government order. They have decided to go on a strike from Tuesday on.
As of now, the Tamil Nadu Producers Council has made announcement that there would be no fresh releases in protest against dual taxation. Recently, the Chennai Corporation released a notice which said that there is a local body tax of 10 percent on Tamil movies and about 20 percent on other language movies. Also, there is a GST of 28 percent. This came into effect very since September 27th. The move by the government has irked the owners of the multiplex theaters. They said that already there is tax and there is the added problem of piracy. There are critical issues and every Diwali release is important for the government. Would the issue be solved? One has to wait and see whether fans can enjoy Mersal for Diwali.
