Illegal Phone Tapping Case: 17th Additional Sessions Court Acquits Savukku Shankar
In the case filed against Savukku Shankar for illegal phone tapping, the 17th Additional Sessions Court acquits him stating the case has insufficient evidence. In 2008, the case was filed against Shankar for tapping the phone conversation between Tripathy, the Chief Secretary and the Chief of DVAC, Upadhyay and releasing them to the press. Shankar had been working as a special assistant in DVAC. Being accused of tapping, Shankar was suspended from his job. The conversation was about the Kodanadu estate case of “ Jayalalithaa Jayalalithaa Jayaram, more popularly known as Pura >> Read More... .” Shankar was arrested and put behind bars. After eight years, the verdict of the case is out and Shankar is proved to be innocent. Shankar openly states that he had been targeted by the DMK government.
