Commonwealth Games 2018 is hosted by Australia in Gold Coast. India started filling its medal tally with a silver medal and now it is Gold! Yes, Gold! The first medal comes on Day 1 from Weightlifting. Gururaja claimed the silver medal in the 56 kg category. Guru lifted 111 kg and 138 Kg and with a total of 249. Yet again, we have got a medal in weightlifting and this time, it is from a majestic woman, Mirabhai Chanu. Mira clinches the Gold Medal in 48 Kgs category. Mira, who is from Manipur lifted 86 kg in snatch and a clean 110 kg. With her total weight lift of 196 kg, Mira grabbed the gold on the first day of Commonwealth Games! Mira has shattered the existing record in the CWG! Congrats Mira and Gururaja!
