DMK MLA Appavu filed a public interest litigation stating the government to cancel the license of the sand quarries and to encourage the artificial sand quarries. If the licenses are canceled, it will help to stop the sand pillage and keep safe the river sand. If M-Sand (Manufactured Sand), the artificial sand are replaced in place of the river sand, it will help us to save the natural resources. If the natural sand is preserved, drinking water scarcity will be minimized. Appavu’s petition is taken into consideration and the High Court bench led by Justice Kuluvadi Ramesh and R Mahadevan ordered the State Government to review the request of the petitioner.
