Minister Velumani stated that the government has been trying hard to supply the drinking water to the Chennai people. He informed that Porur Lake supplies the drinking water for Chennai, now. With the investment of Rs 1.8 Crore, lake water has been processed and supplied for drinking. Velumani also stated that 470 million liters of drinking water had been supplied to Chennai. Amidst the drought the government has been taking initiatives to supply the drinking water without any break, said Velumani. To clean up the lakes and tanks, the government has invested Rs. 400 Crore, informed Velumani.
