Murugan, a convict on the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi Assassination case writes a petition to the ADGP to fasts unto death (to attain Jeeva Samadhi). Murugan has been in the Vellore prison for more than two decades. Murugan submitted his petition on 19th July to the superintendent G Shanmugha Sundaram. He addressed the petition to Sylendra Babu, the Additional Director General of Police. As he is in prison for 26 years and spent most of his life there, he wanted to end his life.

forwarded the petition to Sylendra Babu. Murugan announced that he would not be taking the food from 18th August.
