The film Kaththukkutti deals with the monstrous effects of the Methane Exploration project in the Delta region farmlands of Tamil Nadu which includes the Thanjavur district. It delves in detail about the ill effects of this project on the ecosystem, on agriculture and on the ecosystem and the livelihood of the people in those lands. Within just 2 days of the film’s release, the Tamil Nadu Govt has issued an order restraining the proposed project.

welcomed the State Government’s move and released this statement, “The film explains how the Methane project will destroy the heritage values of Tamil Nadu State using special graphics. The project will destroy the livelihood of the people in the region. The film aims at creating awareness across the state about this dangerous project. We consider the Tamil Nadu Government’s refusal to grant permission for the project as a mark of success of this film. We thank the CM J Jayalalitha for issuing the ban on understanding the risks involved. Every clap that this films gets should go to the CM Amma”.
