Taxes have been levied on movies and there is a protest amidst the producer council. There is delay in the release of new movies. There is prevalent doubt as to whether the movies would be released on Diwali. It is usual that the fans celebrate the release of movies during festivals. For this Diwali the movie Mersal starring Vijay, Movie Aram starring 'Nayantara', and 'R. Sarathkumar' starrer Chennaiyil Oru Naal 2 and M. Sasikumar’s Kodiveeran are anticipated to be released. The arrangements forth release of the movie was in rapid progress. A week before the release of the movies, there were about ten movies queuing up for release. In a development there was the burden of taxes levied on movie tickets. The theater proprietors said that they would shut down the theaters if the entertainment taxis not cancelled.
The multiplex theaters were closed. There was demand that the ticket prices be hiked. The production unit of movie Mersal has announced that the movie would sure hit the screens on Diwali. So, although there is no amicable solution, the movie Mersal is sure to hit the screens. So far there is no news as to which movies would release for Diwali. There is announcement that there would be amicable solution. It is anticipated that the number of movies releasing for Diwali would be announced soon.
