Plot

Star performance

Frieza as the antagonist stole the movie. His haughtiness and desire to take revenge against Goku take the plot forward. His desperation to win fills the tension in the clash. The transformation of Goku to Super Saiyan Blue portrays to be stronger to protect his loved ones. Vegeta’s pride is evident in this movie, the way he goes to protect Goku from Frieza’s attack shows his character development. Piccolo’s wisdom in the battles to handle Frieza’s force is brilliant. Master Roshi, Tien, and Jaco come up with their own style, adding to the teamwork.

Analysis

Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu No F is an animated fantasy martial arts movie. Tadayoshi Yamamuro is a character designer and animation supervisor, he has maintained the balance of action sequences and character growth very well by directing this movie.  He has highlighted the relationships and character’s personality and role in the story.  The action sequences are well-choreographed with unique fighting styles and signature moves. The camera angles were exciting to enhance the action sequences. The close-ups and wide shots build intensity to the battles. The usage of vibrant colors gave detailing to the character. The editing kept the audience engaged especially in the scenes of battle. The music added emotions to the character, it was epic orchestral pieces.

Vegeta’s selflessness to protect Goku highlights the theme of sacrifice. Goku’s compassionate side can be seen when he gives a chance to Frieza. Frieza’s forces portray the power of teamwork and unity.

This movie is a little bit slow-paced in the beginning. Took a lot of time to set the story. As there are a lot of cast, all did not get the space for character development. It was predictable, a powerful villain setting revenge against the hero. But fans would like this, only those who look for surprising plots get disappointed.

What’s there?

  • This movie has epic battle scenes
  • There is high-quality animation with fluid movements and action sequences
  • The vibrant colors add detailing to the character
  • There are nostalgic moments for the fans when Frieza returns
  • There are different emotions in this movie

What’s not there?
