Chris Wedge is a producer and director known for his work as a voice actor for animated films. He is American; his full name is John Christian Wedge and was born in Binghamton in New York. He graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1975 and later received BFA in Film from SUNY at Purchase in 1981 at New York. At the age of 12, he was fascinated by the animation technology, and he followed the Yellow Ball Workshop, which he thought was very interesting. He did an Art Education at Ohio State University and MA in Computer Graphics. He taught at the New York City’s School of Visual Arts. He met Carlos Saldanha at the School which eventually became his directing partner in future. He had a clear aim in his mind and always loved his way around directing. He started working for the MAGI/SynthaVision as a principal animator on the Disney film Tron in 1982. He also did some other works during that period like Where The Wild Things Are (1983), George Shrinks, Dinosaur Bob and Santa Calls. He co-founded Blue Sky Studios along with Carl Ludwig, Michael Ferraro, Alison Brown, Eugene Troubetzkoy and David Brown. He was the Vice-President of Creative Development, which is one of the best computer animation studios. He also formed a film production company named WedgeWorks. He was involved in many great’s works including the short animated film Bunny. He also received Academy Award for the best animated short film in 1998. His work moved along great with many small stints, but in 2002, Wedge directed Blue Sky Studio’s first computer animated film, Ice Age. It received tremendous response from the audience and earned him great fame. He also gave his voice in the movie for the role of Scrat and Dodo. The character was a total hit and was loved by all. He continued the role and also appeared their sequels.
