She went to the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco to study acting. She made the debut of her career in acting with 2001 television series Raising Dad, which aired on the WB channel. She also got nominated for the Young Artist Award for her performance in this series. In her teenage years, she struggled to become a singer. Her first album got released in the year 2005 that achieved moderate success and was titled Finally out of P.E. In 2004; she got to perform small roles in the movies Sleepover and 13 going on 30. She earned the praise of the audience for the comedy movie Hoot released in 2006. She was cast as supporting roles in the films Scott Pilgrim vs. The World released in 2010; Greenberg released in 2010, and 21 Jump Street released in 2012. She also got featured in the 2009-10 television series United States of Tara in which she played the role of a rebellion teenager. She became famous after the 2013 American drama film, Short Term 12.

Timothy Blake Nelson is an American screenwriter, film actor, and also a director. He was born on 11 May in 1964 in the city of Tulsa in Oklahoma. His parents are Ruth Nelson, who is a prominent social dissident and a famous philosopher in the city of Tulsa, and Don Nelson who is a successful geologist. He is of Jewish family line. His grandparents  were from Germany at the time of Hitler. They got away from the Nazis in a matter of days before the start of the World War II. They escaped to Britain in the year 1938 and emigrated to United States in the year 1941. His dad's family were Russian Jewish. He went to the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute ain Oklahoma. He finished graduation from Holland Hall School in the year 1982 in the city of Tulsa. He is an alumni of Brown University. He was a Classics Major and additionally Senior Orator for the class in the year 1986. Also, he won the Workman/Driskoll grant for his work in the field of Classical Studies. He finished his graduation from Juilliard in the year 1990.
