Plot

Following the events of the second film, Larry Daley, the night in charge of a museum, finds himself in trouble. The Tablet of Ahkmenrah is corroding, and Larry fears that the magic that allowed him to interact with the figurines will disappear. He deduces that the Pharaoh might know the Tablet’s secrets, but he is now in London. Larry embarks on the adventure to London, but he is certainly not the only one on the trip!

Star Performances

Once again it is Ben Stiller who is in the driver’s seat. He takes the film on his shoulders and ensures a laughter riot.

Since this is one of the last few films of Robin Williams, some of the viewers will miss his appearance as the majestic ‘ Teddy Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ Roosevelt, should a future installment be made.

Analysis

‘Night at the Museum’ as a series is as much a roller coaster as the adventures in the film involved. The first installment was a surprise blockbuster, followed by a not-so-impressive sequel. Does the third installment work?

Yes, and no. The film, compared to the previous two installments, took on a more serious tone. Probably, it anticipated the end of the journey as well. However, the writers ensured that the audience did not get bored with the message, and the entertainment quotient was intact.

Ben Stiller maintains his touch, and it is his performance that counts the most. Dan Stevens as the character of Sir Lancelot adds his own charm to the role. In their final appearances, Mickey Rooney and Robin Williams also left a profound impact, making some viewers emotional. While her act was not bad, Rebel Wilson’s role did not make the impact it wished to.

The only problem with this film is the treatment of the screenplay. Despite the best efforts, it feels rushed at some point, and meandering in a few places. However, the overall experience is still fun.

What's There?

• Impressive direction by Shawn Levy

• The superb acting of Ben Stiller

• The final performances of Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney

What's Not There?

• Issues with the pace

• Screenplay appears rushed

Verdict

‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb’ is the perfect conclusion for the roller coaster of a franchise. Ben Stiller as Larry Daley has etched his place in the hearts of viewers forever. Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney also pay their final tributes in a certified family entertainer. Do watch this!
