Chris is a film producer, screenwriter, author, actor and director known for his work in American film industry. His full name is Christopher John Weitz, who is the brother of filmmaker Paul Weitz. Chris was born in New York to actress Susan Kohner and novelist/men wear designer John Weitz. His father was originally from Berlin and is the grandson of Czech-born agent and producer Paul Kohner. He has always been related to films and acting, as his family has a vast history of working and making films. His father and maternal grandfather were Jewish and maternal grandmother was Catholic. He was blessed to be born in a family with such a religious history but was never force to follow any religion. He always described himself as a lapsed Catholic crypto-Buddhist. Along with his father, he went to St. Pauls’s School for boarding. He completed his education by acquiring a degree in English from Trinity College at Cambridge University in England. He was also a member of Knickerbocker Greys, which was a New York City youth marching corps which was in the existence since 1881. He started his journey with his brother and worked as a screenwriter. He was in a learning phase and did not earn much credit for his work. He then made his huge entrance as a co-writer for the animated movie Antz in 1998. He also tried his luck in TV sitcoms like Off Centre and Fantasy Island. In 1999, he went to direct and produce the epic comedy movie American Pie, which was an instant hit at the box office. The movie was loved by the youth of the country and was enjoyed widely. He then went on to his second film as director, Down To Earth; a comedy movie in 2001. In 2002, he went on to direct and writes About a Boy with his brother, which was a film based on the book of Nick Hornby. Later in 2003, Chris was hired for a big budget film based on the first book in Philip Pullman’s ‘His Dark Materials’ series.

When he was five years old, he shifted from Hong Kong to the United States, and he grew up in Staten Island, New York. When he played Buffalo Bill in elementary school performance, he discovered his passion for acting.
