Plot

The film is about Percy Fawcett, an English army officer, who sets out to find a city in the jungle of Brazil. Even before finding the city, he names it as Zed or Z. He deeply believes that the civilizations of the nonwhite are always advanced than that of the whites. The people, who are funding his expedition, could not agree his belief. Percy Fawcett’s wife Nina is a woman, who wants to be treated equally in the marriage partnership. The couple has a son too. When Percy enters the Amazon, he has to face several troubles including the arrow attack of the tribes. Later, he finds it difficult to accomplish his goal and returns to his native. At the time, he gets back his wife delivers another boy. After years, he starts back with his son to find out Z. Did he find it? Watch the film in theaters!

Star Performance

Charlie Hunnam has performed excellently well. Robert Pattinson, Sienna Miller and Tom Holland had also done justice to their roles. Characterization of Sienna is good and she had done what is needed in the script.

Analysis

James Gray has taken an adventurous script that takes us back to the golden days of Mackenna's Gold, Raiders Of The Lost Ark and King Solomon’s Mines. The script and the screenplay are designed in an interesting way to attract the audiences and we should appreciate James Gray for that.

What’s There?

  • Performance of the stars is superb
  • Charlie Hunnam’s character as Percy Fawcett is exquisite as an army man, a family man and an explorer
  • Nothing is inserted to commercialize the movie with the story that happens in the 20th century
  • Cinematography by Darius Khondji is appreciable

What’s Not There?

  • The dialogues by Nina seems to be odd and it doesn’t suit 20th century but the 21st
  • There are some flaws in the war sequence

Verdict

The film takes us to the woods along with Percy Fawcett. The adventurous film brings many people nostalgic moments of the good old movies. The Lost City Of Z is a good film that could be watched once!
