Plot

Katie Mitchell is an upcoming filmmaker and gets accepted into California Film School. She often fights with her dad because he hates technology, and after one such fight, he fears that the family might break up after his daughter moves to California. So the family goes on one last trip before college, meanwhile, Mark Bowman, a technology entrepreneur, has a clash with his AI- PAL, so PAL embarks on a mission to capture humans and send them to space. What will happen next? Will the family escape the robots? Will the family resolve their fights and come back safely?

Star Performance

The entire Mitchell family characters were well-written. We can see that all of their personalities and opinions are different, and they frequently fight, but in the end, they stay together, and solve all of their problems together even if it means one is compromised.

Analysis

Even though the daughter and father do not get along and fight frequently, we see some heartwarming moments where they do things for each other and try to eliminate the differences. They teach us that effective communication and bonding is necessary for every family. PAL is shown as the villain, but we can see that he was mistreated by his boss which increased PAL’s hate towards humanity.

What’s There?

• The family dynamic is well portrayed..

• Great animation.

• The characters are very much relatable ex: a typical teen who is focused on her future and is distant from her family.

What’s Not There?

• The basic storyline is nothing out of the ordinary as it is humankind vs technology.

• The first half is a bit slow-paced.

Verdict

This movie is suitable for all ages, from toddlers to teens to the elderly, so grab the popcorn and watch it with your family right away.
