PLOT: Liam James goes on to a summer vacation with his mother Toni Collette, her boyfriend Steve Carrell, and his daughter Zoe Levin. Steve and Zoe Ill treat Liam. They are accompanied by Allison Janney as their neighbor, along with her kids, AnnaSophia Robb and River Alexander, and another couple, Rob Corddry and Amanda Peet. Liam meets few interesting characters on exploring the city and calms himself from his family's thoughts. Meanwhile, he falls for Robb. When a time comes to leave the city, he runs back to

ANALYSIS: This is an endearing movie, with an excellent cast and light humor, but with some small flaws, which comes up towards the end of the movie. The movie is written and directed by Nat Fax on and Jim Rash, who gets the credits for giving us a traditional story in a sweet way. Actors who performed in small roles should have been declared as cameos. They were not utilized completely. Steve Carrell's antagonist role was not powerful. He was simply one of the side characters.
STAR PERFORMANCES: Liam gave a superlative performance as an adolescent who is struggling in dealing with his family problems. He expresses all the feelings that a basic kid will have. He did not bore us with his awkward character. Instead, he maintained a good chemistry with all the characters involved and made us more engaging towards the movie. Colette plays a very strong role and composes few emotional and honest scenes with Liam. Sam Rockwell bags most of the attention of the audience. He leads the screen in the scene that contains his part. He gave a frenzy performance, and made us laugh out loud at few lines; that may look plain in the script.
WHAT'S THERE? Sam Rockwell's performance gives a charm to the whole movie. His performance is one of the very big plus factors for the movie.
WHAT'S NOT THERE? So many characters were under utilized. They were not necessary, and their count could be reduced.
VERDICT: An entertaining summer vacation with Liam.
