Plot

Sachin, an engineering graduate, belongs to a dysfunctional family, and his one goal is to stay away from his family. In the meantime, he plans to move to the UK for his future studies, but his visa is rejected. He approaches his friend, Amal Davis, in need of help, and Amal, who is planning to shift to Hyderabad for his GATE coaching, takes Sachin along with him. Sachin meets Reenu, an IT professional in Hyderabad, and develops feelings for her. At the same time, Reenu is looking for a partner who is mature and settled. The film carries along through this plot and everything that happens during this journey.

Analysis

The best part about Premalu is that it only has a handful of characters. It is what makes it different. Characters play a significant role in connecting films with the audience. After all the serious and realistic films, this is the pleasant watch that Malayalam cinema offers you. One thing you’ll notice is the authenticity of characterization in the movie. No machoism and egoism are celebrated, unlike many other films. The female characterization is so strong yet quirky, representing an urban society- educated women. You will wonder how fresh the film feels. The film also flows like water. It is challenging to make films like Premalu with an elementary storyline work, but kudos to the team who has done it effortlessly. Premalu, compared to other recent releases in Malayalam, stands out and is collecting large numbers because of its relatability. A large section of the audience will find it relatable, whether it’s the situations, humor, emotions, or anything else. That’s what a good script and a good performance do. Its writing makes everything fall under one roof effortlessly. Premalu has a very familiar plot. A plot that has worked out almost always, so don’t expect anything extraordinary; you will be disappointed.
