Vaanavil Vaazhkai is the story of the college students. The story revolves around the music championship. Jithin is a third year student, who joins a college in Chennai; previously he did his graduation in Delhi. He forms a music troupe and makes friendship with a women’s college student Preethi. There are fights and ego clashes between the college students, as usual. There is a setback between Jithin and Preethi and they reunite and aim at winning the championship.
Vinitha is always jealous on Preethi and plays dramas and make them to break the efforts. Whether the students overcome all the hurdles and win the championship is the rest of the story. As it is the subject that deals with the music, James has tried out his best to bring the best music. His debut as a director did not give him success at once; hope for a good comeback. There are many loopholes here and there in the film; as it is his debut movie, it need not be zoomed closer. The newcomers could have provided a better output.
As this is a musical movie, there is no limitation to the songs. It starts all of a sudden and bangs the ears. As the music is an Okay type, it does not irritate the viewers. The film has Carnatic singer S. Sowmya in the mother role.
If the actors have performed well, the film might have attracted the audiences. James Vasanthan might have got a good experience from this movie. Even the Vijay TV serials with the story of the school students could make the people engaged, why a feature film can’t do it perfectly is the question of the audiences. Vaanavil Vaazhkai…. Not so colorful!
