Plot
It is the story of Shiva, the son of a skilled handloom weaver, dedicated to the craft of creating textiles. After feeling tired with his current job and seeing limited prospects for the future, Shiva decides to pursue employment opportunities in Gulf, to achieve financial stability and success. During his journey, Shiva encountered Lakshmi, who, like him, was also headed to Gulf for a brighter future. Shiva’s friendship with Lakshmi transforms into love but they fall in all sorts of problems. In Gulf, Shiva works as a labour under Ibrahim’s supervision, and Lakshmi fulfills the role of a maid in Ibrahim’s household. Meanwhile, the gulf management has face few problems, because some companies are not paying salaries to their workers, due to which the workers are down in the streets. Ibrahim also did not pay compensation to Shiva and his other workers, so Shiva decides to steal money from Ibrahim’s locker and return to India. Did Shiva and Lakshmi be able to go back to India? Will Shiva be able to steal money from Ibrahim’s locker? The rest of the story deals with this.
Star Performance
The performance of the cast is good. Chetan (Shiva) is okay at his role, his face registers not more than two expressions. Dimple excels in her role, serving as one of the few characters who truly tug at your headstrings.
Analysis
The film effectively portrayed the challenges faced by Indian workers in Gulf. The film shows how Indian workers are ill-treated by their bosses in other countries. On an average every year 6,500 Indians die in foreign soil out of which 5,513 Indian workers die in Gulf. As per Indian Government statistics 1,16,13,471 Indians are residing abroad out of which 81,61,153 are working in Gulf. The second half of the film stretched too long by again showing so many problems rather than concluding them on a quick note.
