1. Priyamani

Priyamani is a talented actress of the Southern film industry. She received the prestigious National Award for her role in the Tamil film Paruthiveeran. Before entering into the film industry, Priyamani was doing modeling. 

 

Born on June 4, 1984 in Bengaluru, Priyamani debuted into the film industry with the film Tamil flick Kangalal Kaidhu Sei. The film was a disaster at the box office and she shifted to Telugu and Malayalam films. Pellaina Kothalo is her debut Telugu film opposite Jagapati Babu. This film gained her the much-needed recognition and it was declared a super hit. She came to Tamil industry with a bang through the flick Paruthiveeran, sharing screen space with Karthi Sivakumar. Satyam was her first Malayalam film, but this film was not well received at the box office. In 2005 she made her screen presence in Balu Mahendra’s flick Adhu Oru Kana Kalam opposite Dhanush. Though this film was appreciated by critics, it bombed at the box office. Priyamani’s performance also received good response. 

 

Alongside getting the National Award for her stellar performance in Paruthiveeran, Priyamani received State Film Award and South Filmfare Award. She also received an international award for this film. The 2007 Telugu flick Yamadonga was another successful film in her career. During the same year she had another hit in the form of the Tamil film Malaikottai. Thirakkatha is a Malayalam film in which she received critical appreciation. This film also fetched her Filmfare award. 

 

Thotta, Arumugam, Classmates, Raam are some of the other Malayalam films in which Priyamani acted. The 2010 Malayalam flick Pranchiyettan and the Saint was a roaring success in her career. Maniratnam’s Raavanan, Ram Gopal Verma’s Raktha Charithra were the other films that she acted. Vishnuvardhana, her Kannada flick, was also a superhit. Kannada film Anna Bond of 2012 was a box office success. She worked in another venture in Bollywood (apart from Raavan) by doing an item number in Chennai Express, opposite Shahrukh Khan. 

 

Priyamani knows many languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. She is the cousin of Bollywood siren Vidya Balan.

2. Prakash Raj

Prakash Raj, born on 26th of March, 1965, as Prakash Rai, in Bangalore, is an actor, director, and producer. He is also a television presenter and has worked in films of many languages. He is best known for his work in the film industry of South India, and for playing roles of a villain in quite a few Bollywood films. He hails from a Tulu and Kannada-speaking household and is fluent in various other languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. He also has an actor brother named Prasad Raj. He studied at St. Joseph’s Boy’s School, and subsequently, at St. Joseph’s College of Commerce. Both institutions are in Bangalore. Prakash has three children, Meghana, Pooja, and Sidhu, from his earlier marriage to the actress Lalitha Kumari. His son, unfortunately, passed away in the year 2004. 3. Joy Mathew

Joy Mathew has various feathers to his cap; he is an actor, director, writer and a political persona. But he is very humble in this real life. Hailing from an upper-class Christian family he had his initial days in Kozhikode. He initially joined Pune Film Institute but later opted for post graduation in Mass Media and Journalism. But films always remained his passion. 

 

Born on 20th September 1961, Joy Mathew hails from Challissery, Thrissur. Joy Mathew’s films reflect his childhood days and fervent association with left-wing politics. He believes in giving equal treatment to everyone. Joy Mathew is an optimist and is service-minded. He has great passion towards theatre and films. Joy Mathew’s input to Malayalam theatre is indeed commendable. He has appeared in some movies too. Joy rocked the Malayalam film industry during the 80s. 

 

Joy Mathew has donned the role of a main villain in the biggest 2013 grosser-Amen. The flick Shutter is his debut directorial venture and it received great critical acclaim. This film gained international recognition and was bestowed with several honours. This movie was also well received by the audience. 

 

The 1986 flick Ammaye Kanan, in which John Abraham wielded the megaphone, had Joy donning the lead role. This film was lauded critically and it was adjudged as one of the best Indian films by British Film Institute. Then Joy was in a sabbatical for 27 years and re-entered the industry in 2013 and he donned the role of supporting actor as well as director. He has a distinction of working in 14 movies in 2013 and this indeed a commendable achievement. 

 

Sangeeta Nataka Academy and Kerala Sahitya Academy felicitated him for a couple of his plays. Athirthikkal, Pretoria-October 18, Sankadal and Chille 73 are some of his commendable endeavors as a playwright. Joy Mathew took vigorous involvement in some cultural groups. The Campus Theatre Movement is his foundation which was started in 1980. His contribution to Malayalam plays is over 20.

4. Ramana Gopisetti

Ramana Gopisetti is an Indian film writer, director, and actor. He is known for his predominant works in the Telugu film industry. He was born and raised in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, and studied at Andhra University. His school was Nehru Convent High School and his College was Adithya Junior College, Kakinada. He made his debut as a director with the movie that is named Tatvamasi which is a Pan-Indian action thriller released in the year 2021. Prudhviraj, also known as Ballireddy Prudhviraj, is a Telugu comedian, who made his debut in E.V.V. Satyanarayana’s, ‘Aa Okkati Adakku’, in 1992. While working in his debut film, he spent 40 days with the late Indian film actor, Rao Gopal Rao, and learned so much about the film industry. He made an appearance in over 100 films for over two decades. 10. Raghu Babu

Raghu Babu is a prominent Telugu actor and comedian, who become famous for his outstanding comic timing and expressions. He was born as Raghu Babu Yerra on June 24, 1964, in Ravinuthala, Andhra Pradesh in India. He is the eldest son of Giri Babu, a famous Telugu actor and comedian. He studied in Madras from his 7th standard until college. He took an Engineering course (AMI), but in 1988, he stopped schooling and helped his father in his film production job. In the same year, he also got married. He started acting at the age of 10 in the drama play, Sri Krishna Tulabaram, which became very popular. Initially, Raghu did not have any plans to become an actor. But the late director, Satya Reddy, insisted that he is indeed an artist and the director wanted to make him an actor. He was cast in the film, Dongalu Unnaru Jagratha in the year 1990, which marked his debut in the film industry. His real passion is to become a producer, but one day, Satya Reddy did an ad for the film without informing him. His photo was there and the rest of the cast and when he asked Satya, he just said, he is doing the movie, and so he did it.

11. Rangayana Raghu

Rangayana Raghu was born on 30th November, 1963. He acts in Kannada film industry and his genre is comedy. Till date he has appeared over 100 films and most of them have been comic roles.


He began his career in theatre group by name Rangayana in Mysore, way back in 1988.  His initial salary was just Rs 800 per month. He was supposed to make his debut with 1995 film Suggi, which was directed by award winning director Hamsalekha. Unfortunately, Suggi was shelved and never released.


His first major release was 2002 film Dhumm, starring Kiccha Sudeep and Rakshita directed by M.S. Ramesh. He went to act in films like Ranga SSLC, Rakshasa, and many more. However his best films till date are 2007 film Duniya and 2013 film Director's Special.


Duniya showcased Raghu at his best. Overall Duniya bagged 4 Karnataka State Film awards in 2007, including Best Supporting Actor for Rangayana Raghu. Director’s Special is a Kannada satire comedy film, written and directed by Guruprasad. Along with debutant Dhananjay, Rangayana Raghu essays the role of lead Panche Shastry / Ramachandra. This movie really showed Rangayana Raghu’s theatrical background and what he can do in a film with his power packed performance which was a mix of comedy and sarcasm.
