There have been many movies falling into the category of horror flicks. And the Telugu cinema is a fine platform for such stories. This movie is based on real-life rumors which made rounds in the villages of Andhra during the decade of 90’s.  One has to read the review to know whether the elements of suspense and thrill are present in the movie.

Plot:

The movie starts with a writer who has a dearth of stories, and of course, she is interested in finding one. That is the time when a publisher enters the scenario and wants the female writer to prod on the idea of giving a fine touch of finish to a ghost story.  The writer sets out on the mission to find a decent climax.  Along with her accomplices, she decides to talk with the dead and communicates with the ghost via a game.  Here arrives the twist.  The writer along with her accomplices inadvertently comes across the ghost of a girl who had been killed in a love affair.   The ghost Kalyani opens up about her past, and the story meanders its way such that audiences are left to view a flashback.  There is a love affair in the flashback which had abruptly put an end to the life of Kalyani, who is now a ghost.  The movie’s title plays a major role in the story, and if the inmates of the village do not write out what the title name suggests, the ghost of Kalyani will vanquish them.  The rest of the story is intended to be a suspense and relates the fate of the friends who talk to the ghost.

Star Performances

Shruti Mol has done the role of Kalyani, the ghost in the movie.  If only the story was not lacking in a fine screenplay, she could have performed well.  Deeksha Panth has done the role of the writer in the movie.   Kunal Kaushik Kunal Kaushik is an actor in the Indian film indus >> Read More... and Vamsi Krishna Those, who don’t believe in destiny, will surely d >> Read More... have done the role of her other friends who set out on the mission to talk to the ghost.  The supporting actors do not do anything to lift up the movie’s spirits.

Analysis

Ashok Reddy Bio coming soon... >> Read More... is a debutant director who has directed many short films.  His amateurish approach is the one main reason for the downfall of the story.  Time and again, Telugu cinema emerges with such stories. But, does the movie offer anything different and novel? The answer is, of course, no.  Sadly, the movie has got many unanswered questions.  The script has been handled in a very bland manner. And, if you expect a horror flick, the movie does not even cause goose pimples.  The music by GV is the only one that comes out as a relief to the audiences.

What is there?

  • The movie’s story is, of course, good.
  • The film has got a fine start.
  • The music by GV is one notable aspect in the movie.
  • Good efforts have been maintained to give the feel of suspense till the last.
  • The performances by few artists are laudable.
  • The element of glamor does something to suffice the audience’s expectations.

What is not there?

  • The movie does the least to prove that it is a horror movie.
  • There is absolutely not one scene which gives hair-raising experience.
  • The screenplay seems to head nowhere after an interesting beginning.
  • The planchet game to have a conversation with the ghost does not convince the audience.
  • Romance scenes after the interlude test the audiences’ patience as those scenes are dragging.

Verdict

The movie is not a horror flick as the name suggests and horrifies the audience with a bland direction.
