English Movie Actor Joaquín Cosío

A Mexican-based actor who has put a lot of measure on his acting and more than his acting his speech; along the way has remodelled himself from villains to heroes and also could be seen fighting zombies in one of his actions.

Joaquin Cosio born in 1962 in Nayarit initially considered theatre as his thing which he loved doing from the age of 21. Theatre, as per him, is a great art and requires skills more than just speech. But he thinks the film to be ‘funny’ in his interview on Afterbuzz TV Spotlight.

The bad guy from Quantum of Solace (which was his first International Movie) has been a part of over 50 plays and appeared in 600 performances. His selection to National Theatre Company in 1999 proved him that he was capable of something others lack. Nevertheless, he calls himself lucky for getting such breathtaking roles especially for being a part of ‘Quantum of Solace’.

Considering himself a bad English speaker, he tells everyone with delight about his innocent response to Guillermo del Toro’s call for a role in American TV show ‘The Strain’. He tells how shocked he was and that it was an exciting adventure.

An uphill battle, not mere luck, would land Señor Cosío to be a nominee for Mexican Academy Films Awards (in 2005, 2011 and 2012). Debuting with The Blue Room in 2001, he has appeared in 30 motion pictures. Considering his appearance apt for a villain, his character ‘El Cochiloco’ in ‘El Infierno’ paved way for Best Actor in Ariel and National Board of Cinema Award. ‘Matanda Cabos’ won in 2005 for his lovely portrayal in ‘Mascarita’.

When he was earning rank in different lands, his people patronized him with MGM My Favourite Award. He started in movies not until 40 and he is not only an entertainer on-screen; his first stage play ‘To mochic: Or the day the world ended’ received the National Literature Prize.

Now, aged 54 years it seems he doesn’t have to stop, many spectacular roles are yet to be disclosed and many unbelievable to be believed.
